What is edamame salad?

A colourful mixture of tasty veggies, coated in a beautifully rich and slightly salty dressing, edamame salad is a fresh and wholesome dish that is perfect for enjoying all year round.

Proving anyone that thinks that salads are boring and flavourless entirely wrong, this vibrant and exotic creation delivers endless wonderful Asian aromas, intriguing contrasting textures and satisfying and filling ingredients. 

Inspired by the culinary heritage of East Asia, our edamame salad features a nutritious fusion of red and white cabbage, shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, avocado and, most importantly of all, edamame beans. However, this combination isn’t set in stone, and you can always mix up your salad according to what you fancy on each particular day, or simply to help you use up whatever fresh vegetables you have lying around in the fridge.

Key ingredients 

Traditionally eaten as a rather addictive snack with just a pinch of salt, edamame beans are whole soybeans that are also used in a wide array of Asian stir fries, noodles, soups and other tasty dishes.

Now one of the trendiest and most popular superfoods throughout the world, the demand for them has rocketed in recent years.

This is partly due to their irresistible slightly nutty and mildly sweet taste, and also because they bring countless health benefits. 

Extremely high in protein, they’re an excellent protein source for those on a meat-free diet, and they’re also packed with fiber, vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that help strengthen your immune system, and lower your risk of heart disease.

Sesame oil is another key ingredient of this hearty and health-boosting power bowl. Bringing a unique and distinctive flavour, only a small amount of sesame oil needed to create the desired taste. Without it, your edamame salad will definitely feel like it is lacking something, so make sure you have a bottle tucked away in the fridge for whenever you fancy whipping up this fabulous and exciting dish.
